Southeast of Urbe

Tor Pignattara is an historical district in the south-east of Rome. It is located on the street “Via Casilina”, where a characteristic tram line has been running through it since 1916. Today Tor Pignattara is a mix of different cultures and most of the people there are of Asiatic or north African descent. In this district Mosques, Hindu Temples and Churches live together close to each other: a peculiar fusion of cultures started in this roman neighborhood, and it could reveal for the city of Rome a multi-cultural future similar to the present of other European cities.
